Cryptosporidium Antigen

Collect a small representative portion of freshly passed stool into a clean, dry, wide-mouth, leak-proof specimen container using the attached scoop where provided. Do not contaminate the sample with urine, toilet water, soil, disinfectant or tissue paper. Close the lid firmly, label the container, and place it in a sealed biohazard bag with absorbent material. Deliver promptly; refrigerate at 2–8°C if a short delay is unavoidable unless the laboratory provides a specific transport medium or different instruction. For Cryptosporidium Antigen, use packaging and preservation compatible with Immunoassay; if the receiving laboratory supplies a dedicated collection kit, bottle or transport medium, that kit takes precedence over general packaging guidance.

For Cryptosporidium Antigen, provide the date of symptom onset or suspected exposure, relevant vaccination status where applicable, and any antimicrobial or antiviral treatment already started. Very early or late sampling can affect detectability, and a negative result may not exclude infection when the target is below the method's detection limit. Follow infection-control precautions during collection and do not combine specimens from different sites unless the laboratory specifically requests it.
