Giardia in Water is a specialised analytical laboratory service that detects the named waterborne microorganism or parasite to assess microbiological safety. The service is particularly useful for water quality, compliance or treatment monitoring, providing a documented result that can support quality decisions, regulatory review, process control or investigation of the submitted material. A representative drinking water, groundwater, surface water or wastewater sample is examined using IMS/IFA microscopy; correct sampling is important because the laboratory result can only represent the portion of material actually submitted.
