Blood should be collected by a qualified healthcare professional using standard venipuncture procedures. The sample should be drawn into the appropriate serum separator tube (SST) or plain tube, allowed to clot where applicable, and centrifuged to obtain serum. Label the sample clearly with the patient's name, identification number, date, and time of collection. Ensure the specimen is transported promptly to the laboratory while maintaining the recommended storage conditions. Avoid haemolysis, contamination, or prolonged delays in processing, as these may affect the accuracy of liver enzyme measurements.

Fasting is generally not required for a Liver Function Test unless your healthcare provider has requested additional tests, such as a lipid profile, at the same time.
