About Microbiological Analysis of Water

Not all water that looks clean is actually safe to drink or use. Harmful bacteria and other microorganisms cannot be seen with the naked eye, yet they can pose serious health risks. Our Microbiological Analysis of Water service helps you determine whether your water is free from harmful microorganisms and safe for its intended use.

At AnalysisAfrica, we test water samples for important microbiological indicators that reveal contamination and overall water safety. Depending on your requirements, our analysis may include Total Coliform Count, Faecal Coliforms, Escherichia coli (E. coli), Total Viable Count (TVC), Salmonella, Shigella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other microorganisms where required.

This service is ideal for borehole water, well water, tap water, bottled water, sachet water, swimming pools, rivers, streams, industrial water, wastewater and water used in food production. Whether you're checking the quality of your household water, meeting regulatory requirements, monitoring a packaged water facility or conducting research, we're here to provide accurate and reliable results.

Once testing is complete, you'll receive a detailed laboratory report indicating the microorganisms detected, their levels (where applicable), and an interpretation of the findings. If you're unsure which microbiological tests you need, simply tell us where the water comes from and how you intend to use it, and we'll recommend the most appropriate testing package.

Other important instructions
Please deliver your sample to the laboratory within 6 hours of collection whenever possible. Delayed delivery may affect the accuracy of microbiological results.
Do not add disinfectants, preservatives or chemicals to the sample unless instructed by the laboratory.
If the water has been chlorinated or chemically treated, kindly inform us before sample collection, as a special sterile bottle containing a neutralising agent may be required.
If you're testing water for packaged water production, regulatory approval, environmental monitoring or research, please let us know when placing your order.
If you're collecting samples from multiple locations, use a separate sterile bottle for each sample and label them clearly.
Results apply only to the sample submitted. If contamination is detected, additional sampling from the water source may be recommended to identify the cause and extent of contamination.

If you need guidance on how to collect your sample correctly, our team will be happy to assist you before collection.
