Description

If you and your partner have been trying to conceive without success, or your doctor has recommended a fertility assessment, a Semen Analysis is one of the most important tests you can take. It provides valuable information about your reproductive health by examining the quality of your semen and sperm.

At AnalysisAfrica, we understand that this test can feel personal, so we handle every sample with complete confidentiality and professionalism.

Our laboratory evaluates key fertility parameters including semen volume, sperm concentration (count), motility (movement), morphology (shape), liquefaction time, viscosity, pH, white blood cells and other microscopic findings. These results help your doctor identify possible causes of male infertility, monitor recovery after treatment, assess the success of procedures such as vasectomy reversal, or investigate infections affecting the reproductive system.

After testing, you'll receive a detailed laboratory report with clearly presented results. If your doctor has requested additional investigations such as sperm culture, antisperm antibodies or sperm DNA fragmentation, these can also be arranged separately.

Whether you're planning to start a family, investigating fertility concerns or simply checking your reproductive health, our experienced laboratory team is here to provide accurate and confidential testing.

Packaging Instructions

To ensure the most accurate results, please follow these instructions carefully:

Abstain from sexual intercourse or ejaculation for 2–7 days before sample collection. A period of 3–5 days is generally recommended.
Collect the sample by masturbation directly into a clean, sterile, wide-mouth container provided by the laboratory.
Do not use condoms unless a special laboratory-approved collection condom has been provided, as ordinary condoms may contain chemicals that affect sperm.
Collect the entire semen sample, especially the first portion, as it contains the highest concentration of sperm.
Clearly label the container with your name, date and exact time of collection.
If the sample is collected at home, keep it close to body temperature (avoid excessive heat or cold) and deliver it to the laboratory within one hour of collection.

Other Instructions

Inform the laboratory if any part of the sample was accidentally lost during collection, as this may affect the interpretation.
Let us know if you have had a fever, urinary tract infection or serious illness within the last 2–3 months, as these may temporarily affect sperm quality.
Inform the laboratory about any medications, hormone therapy or fertility treatments you are currently taking.
Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs and excessive smoking for at least 48–72 hours before the test whenever possible.
If your doctor has requested more than one semen analysis, they should usually be performed several weeks apart, as sperm quality can naturally vary over time.
All samples are handled with strict confidentiality, and your results will only be released to you or an authorised healthcare provider.
